Racanelli Construction Co. Inc. established a new tradition this year, Legacy Day, honoring the enduring vision and innovative spirit of our patriarch, Martin J. Racanelli, Sr.
Legacy Day celebrates Martin Sr.’s birthday and the values he instilled in our company, such as honesty, integrity, and fairness, that continue to guide us every day. We reflected on these values as a team and donated to charity in his honor.
Team Rac shared heartfelt memories and stories about their personal experiences with Martin Sr. “My dad was an incredible man,” said Martin Racanelli, “One of the things he taught me was to treat everyone equally and to appreciate how hard everyone works.” He added, “I loved how he could sit with a billionaire and then sit with someone who earned $3.00 per hour and be engaged in those conversations in the same way. I miss sitting with him.”
Connie Racanelli echoed this sentiment, recalling how her father believed a handshake was as good as a written contract. “I remember attending a meeting with him after law school, where we were negotiating contracts,” Connie said. “I kept pointing out provisions I didn’t like, but he insisted that a handshake was a handshake, and he trusted and respected the people he was dealing with.”
Others remembered his kindness and genuine care for employees. Donna Varous said, “When I think of Marty Senior, I always picture his sweet smile. He was so charming and always upbeat!” adding, “He never failed to ask how I was doing and how my family was faring. He genuinely cared about people and considered all Racanelli employees family. Fortunately, his legacy lives on in his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.”
